Louis Armstrong graphic using gestalt principles

Kelvin Graddick ·
This piece of graphic art is a depiction of the famous musician Louis Armstrong. It utilizes the gestalt principles; an organized whole that is perceived as more than just the sum of its parts.

I used different sized blocks to make the image of Louis. I also used circles to depict a heart and a line to his brain. This is meant to express how music starts at the heart, goes to the brain where it's processed, and then outputted. Using gestalt gave an interesting twist on an image of Louis Armstrong. Separately they are just squares and circles, but together they make an image.

Louis Armstrong, nicknamed Satchmo or Pops, was an American jazz trumpeter, singer, and one of the pivotal and most influential figures in jazz music.
